Bill Gates Visit

In 2012, Bill Gates visited the Coptic Mission Hospital in Lusaka, Zambia. The Coptic Hospital provides free medical care and sponsor onsite medical campaigns for all children participa- ting in the OZ Project. The HIV/AIDS center for the Coptic Hospital receives funding from the Global Fund, which is funded in part by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation. Bill took a tour of the facilities, met Bishop Paul, Fr. Abraham and other local leaders, as well as the doctors and staff who run the medical facility. He also spent some time with Florence Daka, an HIV-positive patient whose son was born negative because of the Coptic Hospital’s care in prevention. Bill was extremely impressed with the facilities and the work Coptic Mission is doing to help the local Zambian community.

“The Coptic Mission Hospital is clearly one of the best facilities in Zambia; your HIV/AIDS program is an outstanding example of excellence in clinical care. Our team found your commitment to patient care inspiring, and we applaud your efforts to continue to provide access to high quality care with limited resources. Thank you for your dedication to improving the health and wellbeing of people in Zambia. I look forward to following your continued success.”
