Can I Come Too?

DSCF0637After school hours, a group of girls came while I was preparing for the next day. They asked if they could sit and read some books while I work. Since we are very limited with our current library, the books must stay at school. When examining the children, I didn’t recognize two of them. “We don’t go to this school Teacher, but we want to read too!” I agreed. They all sat quietly and were excited to have a book in hand to help each other out with some difficult words. I started to dream…what if more and more children started coming on their own as these ones have, filling the classrooms with the desire to improve their reading? What could these vulnerable children do if given the resources and a good education? How many other children are not being helped because they weren’t given a chance?
